Yes, all of our slate is fish-friendly and suitable for use in ponds and water features. When wet, slate naturally deepens in colour, enhancing its appearance and creating a striking finish in aquatic environments.

Our beautiful range of slate can make a real impact in water features and ponds, including fish ponds. They’re also ideal for medium-traffic pathways (20mm), rockeries, flower beds and borders. Lakeland Blue Slate is slightly thicker than our other slate products, making them more hard wearing and the 20mm size is even suitable for driveways.

Slate chippings are a low-maintenance material for outdoor spaces. However, they may occasionally need a light clean to keep it looking pristine.

Any loose dirt can be simply swept or brushed away. For other marks, hardened dirt and grime, a soft cloth or mop soaked in a mild soap and water mixture can be used.
