Once again, we’re proud to announce that Long Rake Spar has successfully passed the ISO 9001 Quality Management System audit. This recognition, first awarded to us in 2019, reinforces our commitment to deliver consistent quality, strong processes, and continuous improvement across our business.
Maintaining our ISO 9001 certification is an important milestone for us. It demonstrates how we continue to implement internationally recognised standards for managing quality, improving operations, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
In this article, we explain what ISO 9001 certification is, why it matters, and what it means for Long Rake Spar and our customers.
What is ISO 9001 Certification?
ISO 9001 is the most globally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS), developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation.
Used worldwide by over a million companies across various industries, the ISO 9001 standard provides a structured framework for businesses to ensure their products and services consistently meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
As part of this framework, ISO 9001 outlines a set of principles and requirements focused on guiding a company to build effective quality management processes.
These requirements of ISO 9001 include:
- Relationship management
- Continual improvement
- Leadership
- Evidence-based decision-making
- Process approach
- Customer focus
By implementing ISO 9001 practices, we can streamline our operations, reduce inefficiencies, and ensure consistent quality across all aspects of our business.
How we achieved ISO 9001 Certification
Achieving and maintaining our ISO 9001 certification was not just about simply having a set of documented policies. Becoming certified requires us to demonstrate that quality management is built into the way our business operates every day.
During the audit process, we must provide real examples of how our key processes are followed in day-to-day operations, demonstrating that team members clearly understand their roles and responsibilities, and ensuring we maintain up-to-date documentation and records that support our work.
The audit also examines how we monitor performance and identify opportunities to improve our operations. We show this through a range of checks and reviews, including monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), collating and analysing customer feedback, reviewing complaints, conducting internal audits, and holding regular management reviews.
We implement these activities to show that we don’t just measure performance, but that we act on what we learn. If we identify an improvement to our operations, we take the necessary steps to refine our processes and strengthen the way we work.
Another important part of the ISO 9001 framework is how organisations handle issues when they arise. If we encounter an anomaly in our operations, we follow a structured process to record the issue, investigate the root cause, implement corrective actions, and put measures in place to prevent the problem from happening again.
By consistently applying these processes, not only will we continue to maintain our ISO 9001 certification, but we can also demonstrate that our quality management system is not just a set of documents – it’s a practical framework that supports consistent service, strong governance, and continuous improvement.
What passing the ISO 9001 audit means to us
Upholding ISO 9001 certification since 2019 once again verifies how we have established, built and maintained robust systems to manage quality effectively.
With this validation, customers know that our processes have been independently assessed and certified to meet globally recognised standards for quality management – allowing us to build trust across all our customer relationships.
Successfully passing our ISO 9001 audit confirms that our quality management systems meet the high standards set by the certification.
This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to:
- Delivering consistent, high-quality services
- Maintaining clear and effective internal processes
- Monitoring performance and identifying opportunities to improve
- Putting customer satisfaction at the centre of everything we do
It also reinforces our focus on continuous improvement. ISO 9001 certification requires regular audits and reviews, ensuring that our systems evolve alongside our business and the needs of our customers.
Since our initial certification in 2019, we are recertified every three years. In between these audits we have smaller annual surveillance audits, which is what we completed in March 2026. Our ISO certification is valid until 2028, where we will then be reassessed.
“Maintaining our ISO 9001 certification is an important achievement for the business and reflects the dedication of our entire team here at Long Rake Spar. It demonstrates our commitment to maintaining strong processes, delivering consistent quality, and continuously improving the way we support our customers. We’re proud to maintain these standards and will continue building on them as our business grows.”
