Restored courtyard at National Trust Baddesley Clinton

In April 2015, Long Rake Spar supplied the aggregates for Clearstone’s resin bound colour blend ‘Spiced Barley’ used to refurbish the courtyard at Baddesley Clinton and, although laid almost a year ago, looks great and has coped well with the recent persistent heavy rain fall.

At National Trust Baddesley Clinton in Warwickshire, Clearstone’s resin bound has transformed a tired, impractical outdoor dining area into a tranquil space perfectly in keeping with this historical Grade I listed property. The original courtyard that had a tendency to collect water is now a permeable user-friendly oasis for diners – contemporary paving technology that enhances this fascinating 16th century property.

The Barnyard courtyard at Baddesley Clinton had suffered much wear and tear: the shuffling and scraping of chair legs had gouged and shifted the original paving making it look messy. The courtyard needed a solid, smooth, tough surface impervious to knocks and scrapes so Clearstone installed 327m2 Spice Barley resin bound to a depth of 18mm.

The aggregates from Long Rake used in the blend work beautifully both in colour and texture with the mellowed red brick of the courtyard.

Although the Barnyard is the busy hub of Baddesley Clinton, the Clearstone team worked around visitors and staff during the installation with no disruption to visitors or trade. The 327m2 courtyard was laid in 24 hours and ready to use the following day.
