Processing and Packing Facilities
Long Rake Spar has a wide range of processing and packing equipment installed at plants strategically located throughout the UK. The scale of equipment and facilities enable Long Rake Spar to process and supply packed and loose products to multiple industry sectors. There are three production sites in Youlgrave, Derbyshire; Rye Harbour, East Sussex and Prees, Shropshire. There are also four dock sites throughout England and Scotland that hold in excess of 100,000 tonnes of raw material. £4.6 million pounds worth of investment is underway at Garston Docks, Liverpool and further investment is underway at Rosyth Docks, Scotland to provide additional bulk storage of raw materials.
Garston Docks is a key strategic site for Long Rake Spar as this location gives us the ability to meet the demands of the Industrial minerals and powders market with tailored new facilities nearby. This includes tanker loading facilities and a further warehouse, capable of storing 5,000 tonnes of product undercover.
High volumes of stock are held at Long Rake Spar’s various sites to enable us to react quickly and dynamically to demand for products. This allows for stock to be pulled to production sites from storage facilities in a calculated manner, reducing costs and from an ecological and environmental perspective, reducing the road miles of the products too.
Further expansion and investments are planned at two of the production plants at Rye Harbour, East Sussex and Youlgrave, Derbyshire, which will vastly increase the capacity to produce and store finished products ready for market.

Some of the processes we execute
Washing
High performance washing facilities ensure Long Rake Spar products are provided to the maximum degree of cleanliness. These facilities are also available for contract processing of customer-supplied materials.
Blending
Accurate blending by either weight or density can be undertaken to meet exacting in-house or customer defined specifications.
Drying & Screening
Moisture content is reduced to a minimum by processing aggregates and minerals through two high capacity rotary driers. Dry materials are then screened through a sealed system, triple decked locker screens with integral hammer-mill enabling granules to be produced at 0.5mm size intervals up to 12.0mm.
Wet Screening
Screening of wet products is undertaken through either a washing trommel at 90, 40 & 20mm intervals or over a triple deck screening plant at multiple size separations between 3 & 50mm.
Tumbler
Tumbling of materials is undertaken in a 20 tonne capacity drum to produce rounded cobbles and paddlestones.
