National Horse Racing Museum

The prestigious National Horse Racing Museum in Suffolk has recently benefited from the installation of Addagrip’s Terrabase Rustic resin bound surfacing which features the beautiful natural aggregates from Long Rake Spar.

Addagrip approved contractor ClearPave Surfacing Ltd were invited to install 580m2 of the Terrabase Rustic in a 6-10mm Rustic Gold aggregate at the Rothschild Yard and on the link footways from the car park.

The client was looking to replace the existing hoggin pathways with a more robust surfacing that would suit the equine environment and provide an aesthetically pleasing finish. Clearpave suggested the porous resin bound Terrabase Rustic which utilises Long Rake Spar quality aggregates to perfectly match the clients needs. The Terrabase Rustic could be installed using the existing hoggin as a base and would provide a hard wearing, seamless, decorative finish that could be power washed to maintain its appearance and porosity. A further area of Terrabase Rustic was also installed at the entrance to the newly constructed Olympic size horse manege.

The National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art was holding an opening day at Palace House on 19th September to launch the opening of the first phase of the Centre including the Rothschild Yard. The transformation has been the result of over 10 years of fundraising and construction and has been possible with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Forest Heath District Council, Suffolk County Council, the Racing Industry as well as many private trusts, foundations and individuals.

The official opening ceremony takes place later on in the year.
