SureSet Permeable Paving were contracted by Careys PLC to install the resin bound aspect of their project at Dreamland amusement park, Margate.
A recent £25m investment into the theme park has seen the addition of an outdoor event space accommodating 15,000 people, a new food court, an elevated walkway and more than 1,000 new trees.
Crowds will be lured by first class music events in the new 15,000-capacity outdoor venue and food and drink catering for all tastes; from the East coast of America to East Asia.
To cope with the expected increase in footfall, Dreamland needed an aesthetically pleasing external surface that was hard-wearing, practical and easy to maintain. With the widest range of specialist decorative aggregates on the market, Long Rake Spar were able to provide SureSet with their natural, extremely durable stone suitable for resin bound surfacing, to fit the brief and cover the 1830m² area.
The substantial installation included the area around the Helter Skelter, pathways, food court, outdoor stage area and the roof of the toilet block, which was innovatively utilised to create a balcony area.
Dreamland now has a ‘dream’ surface, fully installed in time for all the upcoming events that were planned for the busy Halloween period.
Long Rake Spar were incredibly impressed with the rejuvenation of what is thought to be Britain’s oldest amusement park and hope they succeed with their plans to become the number one destination for Christmas in Kent.
