The stunning Dalkeith Country Park in Scotland has recently benefited from the refurbishment of the Restoration Yard, a project the Long Rake Spar was delighted to have been involved in.
As part of a multimillion pound redevelopment, Addagrip approved contractor Resarf Flooring Ltd were called in to install 800m2 of Addaset resin bound porous surfacing to the pathways and courtyard areas.
The natural golden aggregates supplied by Long Rake’s Grantex range, help to brighten up the Restoration Yard whilst complementing the existing building and its surroundings. The Restoration Yard is a new development created around the park’s 18th century stable yard which provides a retail, food, drink and wellbeing space for the park’s visitors. The design of the new building is sympathetic to its historical setting, utilising traditional materials alongside new. The contemporary glass-walled Restoration Café looks out over the new courtyard area including a new Courtyard Fountain and has views of the Orangery and River Esk.
The courtyard area required a natural aggregate surface that would be in keeping with the historic surroundings but hard wearing and low maintenance. The client selected BBA approved Addaset resin bound porous surfacing in a 6mm Maple Gold to create a decorative porous paving for the courtyard and pathways complementing areas of loose pebbles around the fountain and grass borders.
The new building was completed in June 2016 in time for the reopening on 25th July 2016.
