Long Rake Spar were proud to be part of this beautiful project by CCE Surfacing in which they undertook a complete refurbishment of the pathways in Horatio’s Garden, located within the grounds of Salisbury Hospital.
CCE laid their ‘Scandinavian Pearl’ Resin bound surfacing using attractive, warm and light aggregates supplied by Long Rake which helped create the base for this relaxing tranquil garden.
The rich golden aggregates supplied by Long Rake ensure the paving sits in harmony alongside the London reclaimed yellow stock bricks and paving slabs that were part of the landscape design.
Horatio’s Garden was built in memory of Horatio Chapple who was tragically killed on an expedition to the Arctic Circle. His family launched a charity with the aim of creating beautiful healing gardens at spinal injury units.
This was a large and challenging project with limited access and involved the removal of over 500 tonnes of debris from the site before the resin bound surfacing could be laid.
The garden was designed by award winning designer Cleve West and in total 1012 m2 of CCE Resinset ‘Scandinavian Pearl’ Resin Bound surfacing was laid.
